Device Monitoring
Inspire continuously monitors paired devices and reports health, performance, and connectivity data back to the management console.
Health Dashboard
The device health dashboard shows at-a-glance status for your entire fleet:

| Uptime | Average uptime across all devices in the last 30 days |
| Last Check-In | Distribution of last check-in times |
| Alerts | Devices requiring attention (offline > 1 hour, errors, etc.) |

Live Screenshots
Request a live screenshot from any online device:
- Open the device detail panel
- Click Take Screenshot
- The device captures its current display and uploads it
- View the screenshot in the panel
Screenshots are taken on demand and are not stored permanently. They are useful for verifying that content is rendering correctly without physically visiting the device.
Scene Preview
The Preview button on the endpoint detail page opens a virtual display that shows the live scene exactly as it would appear on a real screen. This is useful for verifying content without needing a physical device.
How it works
- Navigate to an endpoint’s detail page
- Click Preview
- A dialog opens showing the scene as rendered by the display client
Preview behaviour
| Property | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| License usage | Preview does not count against display license limits |
| Data updates | Shows a static snapshot (initial render only, no live data updates) |
| Banner | An amber “Preview Mode” banner is shown to distinguish from a real display |
| Viewport | Can be set to fit the dialog or match the endpoint’s native resolution |
Preview mode renders a point-in-time snapshot. To see live data flowing in real-time, pair a device or use screen sharing.
Device Lifecycle
Every endpoint has a Lifecycle state that controls whether it renders content:
| State | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Active | Normal operation. The endpoint renders published scenes as usual. |
| Maintenance | Temporarily offline for servicing. The display shows an “Under Maintenance” holding screen instead of content. |
| Decommissioned | Permanently retired. The endpoint will not render any content and shows a “Decommissioned” holding screen. |
Changing Lifecycle State
- Open the endpoint detail page
- Under the Lifecycle section, select the desired state
- Click Save
Setting an endpoint to Decommissioned is a permanent retirement action. The endpoint will stop rendering content immediately. You can return it to Active later if needed.
How it Works
- Active endpoints compile and deliver scenes normally.
- Maintenance endpoints return an empty scene list to the renderer, which then shows a branded maintenance screen with a clock.
- Decommissioned endpoints also return an empty scene list, with a different holding screen message.
Lifecycle states are available on all license tiers.
Proof of Play
Inspire records display analytics for compliance and reporting:
- Impressions — How many times each scene was displayed
- Display Time — Total seconds each scene was on screen
- View Duration — Average continuous viewing time per scene
Access proof of play reports from Reports > Proof of Play.
