Content Library
The Content Library is a shared repository of reusable content items that can be placed across multiple scenes. It provides a centralised way to manage content that appears in more than one place.
Library vs Scene-Scoped Content
| Aspect | Library Content | Scene-Scoped Content |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Available across all scenes | Belongs to a single scene |
| Editing | Changes propagate to all scenes using it | Changes only affect the current scene |
| Usage tracking | Shows where it is used | Not tracked separately |
| Best for | Shared KPIs, logos, tickers, announcements | One-off or scene-specific elements |
Adding Content to the Library
From the Library page
- Navigate to Content Library in the sidebar
- Click New Content
- Choose the content type (component, media, or element group)
- Configure the content
- Save — it is now available for placement in any scene
Publish from a scene
- In the Designer, select an element or group
- Right-click and select Publish to Library
- Give the library item a name
- The content is now in the library and linked to this scene
Using Library Content in Scenes
- Open a scene in the Designer
- Click Add from Library in the toolbar or zone content panel
- Browse or search the library
- Click to place the content
The placed content is linked — updates to the library item propagate to all scenes using it.
Usage Tracking
Each library item shows where it is currently used:
- Number of scenes
- List of scene names with links
- Last modified date
This helps you understand the impact before editing a widely-used item.
Bulk Management
Select multiple library items to:
- Delete — Removes the item (scenes using it retain a copy but lose the link)
- Move — Organise into folders
- Export — Download as a package for import into another Inspire instance
- Update theme — Re-apply a theme to all selected components
Deleting a library item does not remove it from scenes that are already using it. Those scenes retain a snapshot of the content, but it becomes scene-scoped and no longer receives library updates.
